David O’Keeffe made his debut with Geelong in 1982, the same season that saw him play in the Cats’ reserves premiership-winning side. A wingman, the quality of his performances improved over time, and generally speaking he gave good value when selected, playing 50 VFL games and kicking 22 goals over five seasons.
In 1987 O’Keeffe was one of the players offered to the newly formed Brisbane Bears, for whom he went on to give sound service in a variety of roles in 68 games between 1987 and 1991, during which he registered 25 goals.
