David Rhodes was a lithe, fast moving wingman who was a prominent player for Fitzroy in 72 VFL games between 1968 and 1973, in the course of which he registered 14 goals. He was a Victorian state representative at the 1972 Perth carnival. Two years later he embarked on a longer stay in the West Australian capital when he joined Subiaco. Touted as a big name recruit he struggled to adapt to local conditions and therefore largely failed to enhance his reputation over the course of a four season, 48 game, 33 goal stint.
