Edwin Filsell was one of West Torrens’ most prominent early footballers. He debuted with the club in 1897 and continued for a decade, playing 112 games and kicking 18 goals. Nine of those goals were booted in 1904 and were sufficient to earn him the club’s leading goalkicker award for the year. He also won Torrens’ best and fairest medal in 1900.
