An extremely determined footballer who was sound overhead and very good at ground level, Frank Crouch was a valuable servant of the North Adelaide Football Club between 1947 and 1953, during which time he played 91 SANFL games and kicked two goals. The undoubted highlight of his career came in 1949 when he was one of the best players afield in North’s 13.17 (95) to 9.18 (72) grand final defeat of West Torrens. He played at centre half back on that occasion, but was equally adept in other defensive positions.
The indisputable low point in Crouch’s career was another grand final, that of 1952. The Roosters downed Norwood by a record 108 point margin on that occasion, but Crouch, who had only played three games for the year because of a recurring knee injury, failed to achieve selection.
