Having played a handful of reserves games for St Kilda George Dellar joined Norwood in 1960 and went on to enjoy a memorable if brief senior career. Tough as nails, and aggressive as a honey badger, he became a firm favourite with supporters of the Demons (as Norwood was nicknamed at this time). Mostly used across half back, he could also do an effective job as a tagger (although the term was not in vogue at the time), with his duels with West Adelaide’s Neil Kerley being especially memorable. In three seasons with the Demons Dellar played 52 SANFL games and kicked one goal. He was a member of the club’s losing 1961 grand final team.
