Always referred to as either 'Harry' or 'Buckets' Krome was a highly capable ruckman and forward who played 120 SANFL games and kicked 239 goals for Norwood between 1928 and 1935. A member of Norwood's 1929 premiership team and one of the best players on view as the Redlegs withstood the challenge of arch rivals Port Adelaide on grand final day, he then had to endure half a dozen underwhelming seasons as the club's 'golden era' of the 1920s came to an end. Krome himself continued to come up with the goods, however. He topped the Redlegs' goal kicking list on four occasions and was twice selected to represent South Australia. (His highest single season goal tally was 66 in 1935.) He was also instrumental in helping nurture a new generation of players who would eventually, albeit after Krome himself had retired, restore the club to its accustomed position of pre-eminence.
