Port Adelaide’s Henry Eaton was a very handy defender who was a key member of the club’s 1914 ‘invincibles’ combination. In the grand final victory over North Adelaide he lined up on a half back flank, while in the previous year’s triumphant flag decider against the same opponent he had been a popular choice as best afield. Eaton also played in the championship of Australia wins over Fitzroy in 1913 and Carlton the following year. His playing career with the Magpies comprised 58 SAFL games between 1911 and 1915, in which he scored two goals. He claimed club best and fairest awards in 1913 and 1915.
