Ian Egerton was a highly capable ruckman from Murray Football League club Deniliquin. His career with Hawthorn was all too brief - 56 VFL games and seven goals from 1953 to 1957 - but at his best he was as formidable and talented as any ruckman in the game, as attested to by his being chosen to represent Victoria in 1955.
