Jack Chambers was a solidly built (185cm, 82.5kg) ruckman and forward whose expertise at reading the play helped compensate for a lack of pace. Strong overhead, his distribution skills were excellent, and he remained unruffled under even the most extenuating circumstances. He joined Geelong from Kensington Methodists, and played a total of 72 VFL games from 1924 to 1928, kicking 59 goals. His tally of 28 goals in his final season was both a personal best and the club’s best for the year. He lined up on a half forward flank for the 1925 grand final defeat of Collingwood and was chosen to represent Victoria three times.
