Jamie Shaw was a prolific goal kicking full forward who achieved many memorable feats during his career. He commenced with VFA first division side Preston in 1985 and the following season kicked 145 goals to top the competition list. In one match against Camberwell he bagged 18 majors.

In 1987 Shaw was recruited by Fitzroy, and on his VFL debut he kicked five goals, equalling a first game record set by Max George. However, he only played once in the seniors after that, and early in the 1988 season he returned to the Bullants.

In a game against Sunshine in 1989 he posted 19 goals, but this was expunged from the record after the Crows dropped out of the competition. His bag of 15 goals registered against Camberwell in the same season remained bona fide, however. When he retired from VFA football in 1993 Shaw had recorded a club record 687 goals from 120 appearances. He continued his goal kicking exploits at Diamond Valley Football League side North Heidelberg, topping the competition goal kicking list on five occasions, including an all time record haul of 161 in 1994.
