John Graham was a consistently competent, if somewhat unspectacular, footballer, whose contribution to the West Torrens cause was perhaps sometimes taken for granted. Much of his best football was played across half back, where he tended to concentrate on limiting the effectiveness of his direct opponent rather than attempting to take eye catching marks or make dazzling dashes downfield. Graham, who was captain of his club in 1971 under Alan Greer, played a total of 203 league games for the Eagles between 1961 and 1974.
