Quick, wholehearted and powerful, John Ibrahim may not have been the most graceful player in the VFL, particularly when kicking, but he was nevertheless highly effective, particularly early in his career. Ibrahim debuted with North Melbourne as an 18-year-old in 1962, and was a VFL representative two years later. He played in numerous positions with the 'Roos in an 85-game, 50-goal VFL career that ended, somewhat prematurely perhaps, in 1968. Ibrahim then crossed to VFA club Sunshine, where he spent the 1970 season as captain-coach.
