Keith Johns joined Geelong from Geelong High School and developed into one of the foremost full backs of his era. A prodigious kick, he often used the place kick for kicking off. Expert at marshalling his fellow defenders, he was very strong overhead, and liked to go for a run with the ball when the opportunity presented itself. He was also quite adaptable, and could be called on to operate in other positions. He played 64 VFL games and scored 13 goals for the Pivotonians in 1919, from 1921 to 1923, and in 1925. His last game was the 1925 grand final in which Geelong downed Collingwood to claim the club’s first ever league flag. Johns also represented the VFL once.
