A talented forward, Kim Smith topped Prahran’s goal kicking list in his debut season of 1974 with 55 goals from 14 games. The 1975 season found him at Melbourne, where he was top goal kicker for the reserves, but struggled to make an impression at senior level. After just four senior appearances and three goals for the year he switched back to Prahran, where he eked out a reputation as one of the greatest full forwards in the history of the VFA. He was the Two Blues’ top goalkicker every year from 1976 to 1982 and all told amassed 603 goals in 138 games. He played in the 1978 first division premiership side, when he contributed 7.4 to Prahran’s total of 21.15. His tally of 97 goals in 1979 saw him finish as the VFA’s joint top scorer for the year. Kim Smith was included on the interchange bench in Prahran’s official ‘Team of the Century’.
