From Edithvale-Aspendale, Laurie Sharp was a highly consistent and at times brilliant centreman and defender who overcame the setback of a broken leg in his debut campaign with Richmond to claim a club best and fairest award two seasons later. From 1954 to 1957 he played 41 VFL games for the Tigers and scored 14 goals. After spending the 1958 season with Wangaratta he returned for one last season in the big time in 1959 when he played 11 games and kicked half a dozen goals for South Melbourne. He then returned to Edithvale-Aspendale.
