Luke Beveridge was a hard working rover whose distribution skills were first rate and who liked to kick a goal. He gave solid service to three AFL clubs without ever being an automatic selection. His career comprised 41 games and 41 goals with Melbourne from 1989 to 1992, 31 games and 29 goals for Footscray 1993-95, and 45 games, 37 goals for St Kilda 1996-99.

Since retiring as a player Beveridge has eked out a noteworthy reputation as a coach including steering VAFA side St Bede's Mentone Tigers to the C, B and A Section flags in successive seasons. More recently, in 2016 he masterminded the Western Bulldogs' first senior grand final triumph since 1954, when the club went by the name of Footscray.
