St Kilda recruited Simon Meehan locally from St Kilda CBC and he enjoyed an impressive, if brief, VFL career. Exceptionally quick, his disposal skills were first rate and he was always dangerous near goal. Most of his 55 appearances for the Saints were as a rover. He booted 69 career goals. In 1985 he played 10 games and scored 14 goals for West Torrens in the SANFL, followed by 19 games and 29 goals for VFA first division side Frankston in 1986-7. He later played and coached in the VAFA with Old Haileyburians.
