Ian Morrison joined Footscray from St Pat’s College and he soon developed into a very handy player. Boasting plenty of pace, he could function equally well as a ruck-rover or on the forward lines. Between 1973 and 1980 he played 110 VFL games for the Bulldogs and kicked 101 goals. His last season in the league was 1981 when he played just 3 games with Essendon.

The last phase of Ian Morrison’s career between 1983 and 1986 was in some ways the most noteworthy. Playing for Sandringham in the VFA first division he was a member in 1985 of the team which scored a nail-biting one goal grand final victory over Williamstown. The same year saw him boot 108 goals to top the Association list. In his four season stint with the Zebras he played 53 games and kicked 266 goals.
