Neville Bruns gave Geelong 223 games of wonderful service between 1978 and 1992, including the 1989 and 1992 Grand Finals, and kicked 174 goals. He had great pace, and used it to great advantage as a rover, wingman and half-back throughout his career. He polled 33 Brownlow across his 14-year career, with a highest season tally of nine in 1989.
Though he deserves to be remembered for his great playing career, he is probably best known as the player that Leigh Matthews infamously king hit in 1985, an act that resulted in the police becoming involved and Matthews being temporarily deregistered as a player.
