Peter Miller was one of Fremantle’s first two signings prior to the club’s initial AFL campaign in 1995. A diminutive (168cm, 71kg) rover, he played 16 games and kicked 15 goals in the Dockers’ debut season, and generally impressed. However, at season’s end he opted to retire from the AFL and, after a brief break from football, he resumed with his original club, East Perth.
Miller’s career with the Royals was both memorable and meritorious. Between 1988 and 1998 he played 175 senior games and booted 160 goals, as well as representing Western Australia on four occasions. Named his club’s fairest and best player in 1992 and 1997, he skippered the side in his final season, and was a member of the 1996 grand final team which lost narrowly to Claremont.
