Phil Scott was a courageous and determined ruckman who finished his career on a high when he won Subiaco’s 1992 fairest and best award. He had played 110 games and booted 74 goals for the Lions from 1982 to 1987 and in 1991-2, with the highlight coming in 1986 when he had been among his side’s best players in a 19.16 to 8.13 grand final defeat of East Fremantle.

In 1987 Scott was a West Coast foundation player and he gave the Eagles 66 games of wholehearted service over four seasons, kicking 41 goals. The esteem in which he was held within the club was clearly evidenced by his achievement in twice winning the best clubman award.

Phil Scott played five games of interstate football for Western Australia, two of which were state of origin fixtures at the 1988 Adelaide bicentennial carnival.
