The younger brother of Glenn Elliott, Robert Elliott was also a fine footballer. Taller than his brother at 188cm compared to 183cm, he was probably best described as a utility in that he was equally useful on the ball or in the backlines. St Kilda recruited him from Yea and he played 60 games for the club between 1973 and 1978, albeit that he missed the entire 1974 season. Along with brother Glenn he joined Melbourne in 1979 and added a final 43 VFL games and 8 goals to his respective career tallies over the ensuing three seasons.
