Picked up by Geelong from Golden Point, Ron Grove played 10 VFL games and kicked three goals for the Cats in 1941. When Geelong went into recess because of the war he transferred to Footscray and rather than return to Geelong when the club resumed in 1944 he remained at the Bulldogs, adding 72 games and 54 goals to his respective career tallies over the course of a six season stint. Capable of playing in a variety of positions, in a game against Melbourne in 1946 he booted 10 goals from full forward.
