Solid and dependable rather than outrageously talented, Scott Maginness gave creditable service to Hawthorn in 131 V/AFL games between 1988 and 1996. In the Hawks’ grand final triumphs of 1988 and 1989 he lined up on a half back flank. Never one to rack up impressive disposal totals he undertook his work almost unobtrusively, typically ensuring that his direct opponents did not rack up impressive disposal totals either.
Scott Maginness’ father Norm Maginness was also a Hawthorn player.
