Syd Reeves, who played 110 senior games and kicked for Richmond between 1910 and 1919, was regarded as one of the best VFL centremen of his era, although he also played quite a few games in the back pocket. Quick, strong and tireless, he won the Wasps' best and fairest award in 1914 and moved to VFA side Hawthorn in 1920 where he finished his VFL career. He later played for and coached Tramways in the midweek competition in 1923 and 1924, steering the side to a flag in his first season.
