Queenslander Anthony Bamford was a rover and small forward with a touch of class who got discernibly better over time. He debuted with Port Adelaide in 1996, and was a member that year of the club’s last SANFL premiership-winning team prior to its commencing in the AFL. Bamford was not included on the Power’s inaugural AFL list but he continued to front up for the newly formed sister club, Port Magpies, in the SANFL. He went on to play in the winning grand finals of 1998 and 1999 with this team. His career with Magpies spanned the years 1996 to 2003 and comprised 78 games and 58 goals.
