After being on Collingwood’s list in 1993, and Richmond’s in 1994-5, without playing a senior game at either club, Tristan Lynch followed departing Tigers coach John Northey to Brisbane in 1996. Adaptable and highly courageous, he enjoyed an excellent debut season with the Bears, including fine performances in all three of the club’s finals matches.
During his three seasons with Brisbane Lynch was used for the most part in defence, but he could also be deployed as a run-with player or wingman. He played 55 games for the Bears and Lions and kicked eight goals. In 1999 he was traded to Geelong and added a final 17 AFL games and seven goals over the course of that season and the next.
