From Footscray Juniors and Scotch College, Wally Fraser was a pacy half forward who could also play in defence when required. He joined Essendon in 1920 and over the next three seasons played 19 games and scored 10 goals. He then crossed to Footscray and played in VFA premiership teams in 1923 and 1924. He continued with the Tricolours after they entered the VFL in 1925, playing six games and kicking three goals that year to add to the 29 appearances and 20 goals registered in the VFA.
