Wayne Mahney was a pacy, tenacious rover and small forward who was capable of the odd burst of genuine brilliance. However, he was also on the inconsistent side, which restricted his appearances. He played 108 SANFL games and kicked 92 goals for Port Adelaide between 1984 and 1991. His twin career highlights came in 1988 and 1990 when he played in Magpie premiership teams, both times at the expense of Glenelg.
