Bakers Creek

The Tigers joined the Mackay Australian Football League in 1971, which was the competition’s second season. They claimed a premiership on debut, and have since added another eight, although the last of these was almost two decades ago. Bakers Creek is one of only two clubs in the competition’s history to have won four successive senior grade flags, a feat they achieved between 1989 and 1992.[1] They also won two flags in a row in 1971 and 1972. Recent seasons have tended to be something of a struggle, exemplified by wooden spoons in 2013 and 2015, although the 2016 season brought a rare finals appearance, an achievement duplicated four years later.

Footnotes

  1. Whitsunday are the other club to have done this, from 1993 to 1996.
