Ballina Bombers

The Bombers are one eight clubs comprising the QFA Northern Rivers competition, which is in effect a rebranding of the Summerland AFL which ran between 1984 and 2011. Despite the competition being affiliated to AFL Queensland several clubs, including the Bombers, are based in New South Wales. In 2017 they did well to qualify for the finals in second position only to lose both the second semi final to Byron Bay Magpies and the preliminary final to Tweed Coast Tigers meaning that their official finishing position was third. A year later they got as far as the grand final only to sustain a 105 point mauling at the hands of Byron Magpies. Another grand final clash with Byron Magpies followed in 2019 but although the final margin was a good deal narrower at just 29 points, the result was the same.
