Denmark Walpole

Denmark Walpole, initially nicknamed the Giants, commenced competing in the Great Southern Football League in 1997. In 2008 they were rebranded as the Magpies, and success was not long in arriving as they broke through for their first, and so far only, senior grade flag in 2010. The triumph was achieved at the expense of Royals thanks to a 15.5 (95) to 7.9 (51) grand final win. The Magpies contested another grand final in 2012, when they lost by 10 goals to Railways. More recently, however, they have tended to struggle, finishing fifth (of six) in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 before producing their best campaign for almost a decade in 2020 when they got as far as a losing grand final clash with Royals.
