The Saints reached their first grand final in only their third season, and overcame Tamworth Kangaroos by 3 goals, 16.11 (107) to 13.11 (89). They also reached the 2008 grand final but the Kangaroos had their revenge by a 12 point margin, while the following year Tamworth Swans had the better of the Saints. The 2010 season brought a second A Grade flag as Tamworth Kangaroos were overcome on grand final day by 22 points. There then followed a sequence of four successive losing grand final appearances meaning that the Saints had played off for the premiership eight times but only succeeded a demoralising twenty five per cent of the time. They went some way towards balancing the ledger during a 2018 season which culminated in an 11.12 (78) to 10.2 (62) grand final defeat of Gunnedah Bulldogs.
