South Fremantle’s Ray Bauskis was a highly rated forward who registered the impressive tally of 436 goals over the course of his 120 game WANFL career between 1972 and 1980. He headed the league list twice, in 1977 with 107 goals and in 1978 with 83, and was South’s top goal kicker six times in succession (1974 to 1979). Perhaps surprisingly, he was only selected to represent Western Australia once, in a loss to Victoria at Subiaco in 1976. He played in the Bulldogs’ losing grand finals of 1975 against West Perth and 1979 against arch rivals East Fremantle.
