Match Report
West Coast rebounded from a thumping to Essendon by defeating a brave St Kilda side. At half time, it seemed it would West Coast by how much after a stunning 13 goal to five first half. But the Saints fought back hard and wasted several opportunities to get back in the contest. But Eagles ruckman Dean Cox proved to be the difference (five goals, making the most of Saints big man Rhys Stanley being subbed off at quarter time with a hamstring injury. Cox went forward and combined with the exciting Nic Naitanui as the Eagles won the hitouts 49-24. Saints captain Nick Riewoldt was dominant with four goals and veteran Lenny Hayes continued his brilliant season on return from a knee injury. The win ended a four-match losing streak for West Coast against the Saints, burying memories of a tight loss in 2011. St Kilda dropped out of the eight ahead of a crucial match against Sydney in round nine.

COACHES COMMENTS
John Worsfold (WC): We had to work pretty hard for it but we knew we would. You don't know when the opposition are really going to stretch you at their absolute best - it could be in the first quarter, it could be in the second quarter. Today it was in the third quarter and they got up and going a bit.
Scott Watters (StK): You have to be resilient. You have to push through that. On one hand [it's] pleasing that the group was able to fight back after a very poor first half, but I'm not going to sweep the first half under the carpet either. We need to address that as a group.
