Match Report
Sydney moved a game clear on top of the ladder with a thumping win over Gold Coast. The red-hot Swans were way too good for the Suns, who are still searching for their first victory at their home ground nearly two years after entering the AFL. Although it was a comfortable win to Sydney, they would have been bitterly disappointed with injuries to two key players. Adam Goodes (thigh) and Sam Reid (knee) looked to be in trouble, but Swans coach John Longmire believed the injuries weren’t too significant. The Suns lost comfortably but they finished 15 up in the possession count. It was Sydney’s relentless pressure that brought Gold Coast undone. Suns star Gary Ablett was terrific as always with 40 possessions.

COACHES COMMENTS
Guy McKenna (GC): I'm not a historian of the game by any stretch of the imagination but to finish 15 possessions up (398-383) and still lose by 72 points, makes you scratch your head.
John Longmire (Syd): It was a 72-point win which is not easy to do in AFL footy. I thought our first half was a bit scrappy. I thought we over-used the ball a bit with hands and it was really slippery.
