Claude Curtin was a useful centre half forward and full forward who kicked in excess of 50 goals in a season four times, topping Fitzroy’s goal kicking list on each occasion. He played 93 VFL games and kicked 269 goals for the ‘Roys in four separate stints between 1939 and 1949. He was unfortunate to miss playing in Fitzroy’s 1944 premiership team because he was away on war service.

Curtin had a brief sojourn at North Melbourne in 1948 when he played four games and booted seven goals.

Claude Curtin was the nephew of former Australian prime minister John Curtin.
