Alan Woodman was a tough, powerful defender who tended to play either in a back pocket or at centre half back. An excellent spoiler, he applied himself with great courage and determination. He joined Geelong from Bannockburn and was a consistent performer for the Cats in 58 VFL games played between 1975 and 1979, during which he scored two goals.
