Originally from Middlesex in England, Alf Bartlett was a handy wingman who played 79 VFL games and kicked five goals for Fitzroy from 1901 to 1907. He was never an automatic choice for the side but he did get to enjoy premiership success as a member of the Roys team which downed Carlton by four goals in the 1904 grand final.
