George Fiacchi gave Port Adelaide excellent service, mainly as a back pocket player, between 1985 and 1997, during which time he played a total of 236 senior games, plus one for the state. Fiacchi’s partnership with full back Roger Delaney was exceptional, with the pair popularly being dubbed ‘Batman’ (Delaney) and ‘Robin’.
The highlight of George Fiacchi’s career came in 1990 when he won the Jack Oatey Medal for best afield in the Magpies’ Grand Final defeat of Glenelg. In addition to 1990, Fiacchi also played in Port’s 1988, 1989, 1992, 1994, 1995 and 1996 premiership teams.
