Bonbeach

Bonbeach’s most noteworthy period to date came during the late 1970s and early 1980s when the club was a member of the Nepean Football League. Between 1977 and 1984 the senior grade side contested half a dozen grand finals, winning those of 1979 against Frankston YCW, 1982 by a single point against Pines, and 1984 at the expense of Red Hill.

When the NFL merged with the Mornington Peninsula Football League in December 1986 Bonbeach transferred its affiliation to the new competition, known as the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. The Sharks have yet to claim any senior grade MPNFL premierships but they ran second in the Nepean Division in both 2003 and 2004.

Since 2005 Bonbeach has competed in the MPFL’s Peninsula competition, with a best finishing position of runners-up on two occasions, to Edithvale Aspendale in 2013, and to Frankston YCW in 2017. The 2018 season brought a dip in fortunes as the Sharks only managed 8 wins from 18 matches to finish seventh (of ten). A year later, with the Peninsula competition having been renamed Division One, Bonbeach did well to get as far as the preliminary final, only to go down fighting against Dromana.
