AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
Prior to commencing in the South Australian Amateur Football league in 1995, the Eagles had enjoyed premiership success in a variety of competitions, dating back as far as 1958 when they had been competing in the Gawler and District Football League. There were double celebrations when Elizabeth claimed its only senior grade SAAFL premiership in Division Six in 2005 as the reserves also went top the same year.
In recent seasons Elizabeth have competed in Division Five, contesting the finals in 2013, 2014 and 2015 without winning once. In 2016 the Eagles ended up with the wooden spoon after managing just three wins from 18 matches meaning that the 2017 season saw them lining up in Division Six. In what was a promising but ultimately frustrating year they qualified for the finals in second place but were unable to make it past a preliminary final clash with Ingle Farm. A year later they dropped down the ladder to finish one place adrift of finals qualification before making the finals in 2019 and ultimately coming fourth. An abbreviated 2020 campaign saw drop down the ladder again to sixth.
