AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
The Lightning took their bows in Division Three of the Southern Football League in 2016 when they managed half a dozen wins from 18 matches to finish a creditable eighth out of twelve clubs. A year later they again finished eighth after winning one more game for the season. In 2018 Lyndhurst was one of the inaugural members of the SFL's new Division Four competition. Second on the ladder after the home and away rounds the Lightning downed minor premiers Carrum Patterson Lakes by 25 points in the second semi final to move straight into the decisive match of the year. Unfortunately, that was as good as it got for Lyndhurst as grand final opponents Cerberus dominated from the outset in cruising to victory by 32 points, 12.14 (86) to 8.6 (54).
