Mulgrave

Mulgrave currently competes in Division Two of the Eastern Football League.  In 2009 Mulgrave’s seniors did well to qualify for the finals in second place and, after proceeding straight to the grand final on the strength of a 10.16 (76) to 11.6 (72) second semi final defeat of South Croydon, looked well placed to capture their first flag for three decades. However, on grand final day South Croydon turned the tables after another closely fought tussle, emerging triumphant by 9 points, 14.16 (100) to 12.19 (91). It only took the Lions a season to make amends which they did by means of a grand final defeat of Bayswater, thereby earning promotion to Division One. Their involvement in the EFL's elite tier was disappointingly fleeting, however, as they lost every match contested in 2011 en route, inevitably, to the wooden spoon and, with it, relegation back to Division Two which is where, as intimated above, they have continued to compete. Recent seasons have seen them finish seventh (2016), eighth (2017) and ninth (2018) of ten teams.
