Norwood

Not to be confused with the famous SANFL club of the same name, Norwood - initially known as Norwood High School - was originally formed as a junior club in 1959, and began competing the following year. In 1962 a senior arm was added to the club which became a founder member that season of the Eastern Districts Football League. The change of name to Norwood took place in 1970, and the first of the club’s five senior grade flags was claimed in 1982. Three of these premierships were attained in Division Three, one in Division Four, and, most recently of all, one in Division One in 2014. The Norsemen also reached the Division One grand final in 2015 but suffered a humiliating 111 point reversal at the hands of Balwyn. Norwood currently competes in the Eastern Football League’s top division, and is acknowledged as one of the competition’s leading clubs. They finished sixth in both 2016 and 2017 before dropping to seventh in 2018..
