Pooraka

Pooraka’s heyday came during the club’s involvement in the South Australian Football Association from 1978 to 1995. During that time the Bulls claimed a competition record half a dozen senior grade flags. When the SAFA folded Pooraka crossed to the SAAFL where  they have since enjoyed premiership success in A2 Grade/Division Two on a couple of occasions and Division Four once. In 1997 the Bulls overcame minor premier Sacred Heart Old Collegians in the grand final by 22 points, 10.11 (71) to 7.7 (49). Four years later their grand final victims were Seaton Ramblers, Pooraka emerging triumphant by 23 points, 16.11 (107) to 12.12 (84), after rattling on a match winning burst of 6 goals to 1 in the third quarter.

Following their 2001 premiership the Bulls endured some difficult times dropping down as low as Division Four which was where they obtained their next, and most recent, senior grade flag in 2010. Confronted in the grand final by Golden Grove Pooraka were comfortably in control all day in cruising to victory by 53 points, 16.22 (118) to 9.11 (65).

The 2011 season brought consolidation in Division Three but in 2012 the Bulls were relegated back to Division Four after winning just 1 match for the year. They remained in Division Four for the next four seasons, contesting the finals in 2013, 2014 and 2015, before succumbing to relegation to Division Five in 2016. The 2017 season saw the Bulls qualify for the Division Five finals in fifth place before battling their way through to a losing grand final clash with Glenunga. The primary aim of promotion back to Division Four for 2018 had nevertheless been achieved and they went on to do well, qualifying for the finals for an ultimate finishing position of fourth.
