Somerville

Somerville’s two Nepean Football League premierships were gained at the expense of Pines in 1981 and Edithvale Aspendale five years later. Earlier, the club won one premiership in the Mornington Peninsula Football League, convincingly downing Sorrento, 20.11 (131) to 10.15 (75), in the 1940 grand final. Its 1928 Peninsula Football Association flag came via a 24 point grand final defeat of Hastings. In recent seasons the Eagles have twice played off for Nepean Division premiership honours, losing by 45 points to Sorrento in 2010, and falling short by 20 points against Rosebud in 2015. The last three seasons have seen a gradual decline in fortunes with the Eagles finishing fourth in 2016, seventh in 2017 and eighth in 2018.
