Alvie

Alvie’s tally of 12 senior Colac and District Football League premierships since world war two makes it the competition’s equal (with Colac Imperials) most successful club during that time. The club was particularly powerful during the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, but failed to win any senior grade premierships at all during the 1980s and 1990s.

The Swans' most recent grand final success came in 2000, at the expense of Lorne. They also reached the 2005 grand final, but lost by 7 points against Forrest in a match in which only 5 goals were kicked. In 2007 they qualified for the finals in fourth spot with a 12-6 record only to bow straight out of premiership contention at the hands of Apollo Bay, who won a high scoring elimination final by 16 points. The 2008 season brought marginal improvement as the Swans got as far as the preliminary final where they went down by 23 points to Lorne.

Over the past dozen or so seasons the Swans' fortunes have been mixed. They qualified for the finals in 2009, 2010, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019 but tended to struggle somewhat the rest of the time.
