Dominic Old Scholars Football Club - DOSA - commenced in the Southern Division of the Tasmanian Amateur Football League in 1978. Between 1981 and 1986, the competition split into Old Scholars and Districts sections, with DOSA competing in the former, and winning premierships in 1984 and 1986. In 1987 the two sections divorced entirely, with the Districts section carrying on under the banner of the TAFL Southern Division, and the Old Scholars section establishing itself as a separate, standalone league. DOSA won the Old Scholars Football Association’s inaugural premiership with a 12.10 (82) to 11.10 (76) grand final defeat of Friends. Since then, the Roosters have added half a dozen more flags, in 1994 and ‘95 at the expense of Friends, and in 1999 and 2013 against Hutchins. In 2016 and 2017 the Roosters did well during the roster matches only to underperform badly once the finals arrived. They turned things round in impressive fashion during a 2018 season which culminated in an 8.13 (61) to 7.3 (45) grand final defeat of Richmond, giving them their sixth senior grade Old Scholars premiership. It was an exemplary season in all respects for DOSA as their reserves team also went top. The 2019 season brought back to back flags for the seniors who thrashed Richmond in the grand final by 48 points. After that, the 2020 season, which was run on a reduced scale basis because of the coronavirus pandemic, was somewhat disappointing as the Roosters' bid for a hat trick of premierships was halted at the preliminary final stage by Old Hobartians Association.
