Gibson

Only Esperance, with 21 senior grade Esperance District Football League premierships to its credit, has been more successful than Gibson, which has claimed 17. Both clubs were founder members of the competition in 1956. The Tigers had the satisfaction of drawing first blood by claiming the new league’s inaugural flag. However, they then had to wait almost a quarter of a century before adding a second in 1979. This was a prelude to just over a decade of sustained success. Indeed, only twice between 1979 and 1992 did the Tigers fail to finish top.

Since the turn of the century, Gibson has won four senior grade premierships, the most recent of which came in 2019 thanks to a 9.14 (68) to 4.17 (41) grand final defeat of arch rival Esperance.
